Big Sur

Big Sur
Big Sur, located on the Central coast of California, is one of the most dramatic and magical landscapes in the United States. Its rugged coastline attracts photographers from all over the world. The route along Highway #1 dips down to pristine beaches and climbs precariously high above the Pacific, offering sweeping panoramic views. This 90 mile stretch of highway showcases oceanfront cliffs and secluded canyons around every turn. Iconic landscape subjects including Morro Rock, Spooner’s Cove, McWay Falls, Pfeiffer Beach, Bixby Bridge and Rocky Point to name just a few. During this 5 day workshop we will focus primarily on landscape techniques and subjects but there will be some wildlife opportunities as well. Participants will be instructed in technical as well as creative aspects of landscape photography. Emphasis will focus on, but not be limited to, lens choice, composition, getting it right in the camera, creating the 3rd dimension needed for visionary landscapes, understanding and applying the rules of composition and much more. As with all First Light Photography workshops our class sizes are small to insure the maximum & most personalized instruction for each person attending. This workshop is limited to 4 participants.

Testimonials

You are a phenomenal teacher & I truly learned a lot from our sessions. You are an excellent communicator & very easy to talk to. Even though I only started taking up photography recently, I didn’t feel the least bit intimidated. I felt that was able to ask you virtually any photography question, and you were patient enough to give me concise explanations that I could understand. It’s very obvious that you have a real passion for photography & it’s wonderful that you are willing to share your knowledge & passion.

Thanks again!
